This self-paced online course provides a vital update to those responsible for ensuring safer recruitment in educational settings
Safer recruitment is a critical part of protecting children and young people in education. Schools and early years providers have a legal responsibility to ensure that those working with children are suitable for their roles and are recruited safely.
It is good practice to refresh this training every two years to remain up to date with changes in legislation and learning from recent serious case reviews. Safer recruitment goes far beyond carrying out DBS checks - it is about embedding a culture of vigilance and ensuring every step of the recruitment process protects the welfare of children.
This 90-minute eLearning Refresher Training is designed for school leaders, governors, and recruitment panel members who have completed previous training and need an update after two or more years. The session follows the latest guidance.
The training is flexible, up to date, and includes time for personal reflection and reference to the upcoming changes with the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill and the Crime and Policing Bill. Knowledge checks are embedded throughout the training to demonstrate understanding of the role and responsibilities.
A certificate, comprehensive resources folder including access links to key statutory and regulatory documents, and procedural compliance checklist is awarded on successful completion.
Participants should have previously completed an accredited safer recruitment qualification.
For those new to safer recruitment, we recommend attending our accredited one-day Safer Recruitment in Education workshop instead. For more information please click here.
This course is suitable for multi-academy trusts (MAT's), headteachers, school governors, the safeguarding team and all others involved in staff recruitment.
